Who we are
Established in 1997, Blackwell Associates Limited is a premier occupational health advice and support provider for over 500 businesses across Northern Ireland. The company was founded by Dr Alan Black who obtained membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1984. Dr Black subsequently obtained his specialist occupational health qualifications (Membership of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine) and specialist accreditation in 1992. Dr Black is the only occupational physician in Northern Ireland trained to use the appraisal scheme currently being trialled by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and to appraise other occupational physicians using the pilot appraisal tool.

Our team consists of one full-time Consultant in Occupational Medicine and a number of sessional occupational consultants and physicians with a wide range of expertise and experience in both the public and the private sector. We have two full-time and two part-time qualified occupational health nursing advisors and a number of sessional staff ensuring all our clients needs are met. Our Business Director heads up a team of 3 operations staff who liaise with clients on a daily basis. Although established in 1997 the core management team have been working together continuously since 1989, initially in the occupational health department of Northern Ireland Electricity.
